About Me

Jawhny Cooke

Hi, I'm Jawhny Cooke. (Jaw-knee) I'm AWS's Global Tech Lead for Anthropic's Claude Code, and I specialize in making agentic coding work in the real world.

The Current Mission

I partner with enterprises to navigate the complex challenges of production AI development: authentication architectures, multi-agent orchestration, operational optimization on AWS, and all the messy details that separate impressive demos from production systems. My work bridges cutting-edge AI capabilities with enterprise-grade reliability, helping teams confidently adopt Claude Code at scale.

How I Got Here

My path to AI started in telecommunications and networking, not machine learning papers. Four years in the Air Force, Eight years in the U.S. Coast Guard, then Sr. Network Architect at Kaiser Permanente, 15 years at Cisco building cloud-scale services ($1B WebEx revenue, 99.9% uptime), BlueJeans Network driving automation, and AWS Solutions Architect in 2021.

I developed the first IP-to-IP voice gateway (now called session border controllers), earned patents in telecommunications and network automation, and learned that the best technical solutions come from understanding both the technology and the people using it.

In 2023, I moved into AWS's Generative AI organization as a Senior Specialist SA focused on the Anthropic partnership. That work led to my current role as Global Tech Lead for Claude Code. This isn't a pivot from infrastructure, it's an evolution of the same principles.

Why I Write

Every blog post here is me working through a problem, explaining a pattern, or creating the guide I wish existed when I needed it. I write for developers and AI enthusiasts starting with AI coding tools, architects explaining Claude Code to leadership, and engineers tired of surface-level tutorials.

You'll find agentic coding workflows with real authentication and error handling, AI agent architectures that solve actual problems, deep dives into Claude and MCP informed by production systems experience, and practical tutorials that respect your intelligence.

My Approach

I show my work. You get the code, the reasoning, the tradeoffs, and the failures with explanations. Technical writing doesn't have to be boring. You'll find analogies and storytelling here because that's how we learn best.

Beyond The Code

When I'm not building workshops, I'm 3D printing (usually something robotics related), or spending time with family where I live in Roseville. I'm fascinated by how AI changes not just what we build, but how we think about building.

I'm an author of publications on AI workflows, and holder of multiple telecommunications patents. More importantly, I've helped countless teams move from "this is interesting" to "this is production-ready."

If you're working on something interesting with Claude or building agentic systems, you've come to the right spot. The best conversations happen when people share what they're learning.

Welcome to my corner of the internet.
